A Road Safety Advocate and driver trainer, Frank Agyei-Monney, popularly known as Sir Monney, has urged drivers to exercise maximum caution on the roads, warning that a single mistake can lead to the loss of many lives.

He made the call during the end-of-year celebration of the Lord Jay Drivers Welfare Group held in Accra.

The event brought together members of the welfare group and featured activities such as free health screening in collaboration with health professionals.

As part of efforts to promote road safety, the group invited the advocate to educate drivers on responsible driving practices, after which members shared a meal together.

Speaking to Adom News, Sir Monney stressed the high level of responsibility that comes with driving.

“As a driver, one mistake from you can cost many lives, so you must always stay alert and focused,” he said.

He further drew a comparison to highlight the risks associated with the profession: “If a doctor makes a mistake, it may affect one person. But if a driver makes a mistake, it can lead to the loss of many lives. That is why drivers must be extra careful at all times.”

He also emphasised the need for drivers to understand and adhere to road traffic regulations.

“Many drivers do not pay attention to the laws. They need to read and understand them to avoid problems and ensure safety on our roads,” he added.

In addition, some executives of the Lord Jay Drivers Welfare Group expressed satisfaction with the success of the event and encouraged other drivers to join the association to benefit from similar initiatives. They also advised drivers to prioritise their health and safety.

“Drivers must learn to rest when they are tired and eat properly to stay fit for the job,” they noted.
