Berekum Chelsea have announced that their late player, Dominic Frimpong, will be laid to rest on April 29, 2026, in Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

The 20-year-old forward died after sustaining gunshot wounds during a highway robbery attack last Sunday while the team was travelling back to Berekum after their Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex.

The incident occurred along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District, as the squad made its way from Samreboi.

The club confirmed that Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, will be buried in his hometown, where family, teammates, football officials and supporters are expected to gather to pay their final respects.

Berekum Chelsea have since suspended football activities as players and staff undergo psychological and medical assessments, with a phased return to normal operations expected in due course.

Meanwhile, police investigations into the robbery are ongoing, with two suspects, including an alleged gang leader, already in custody.

FIFA, the Confederation of African Football, and several clubs have also paid tribute to the young striker following his sudden death.
