The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, will on Sunday, April 12, 2026, continue his tour of the Ashanti Region to express gratitude to the electorate for their support in returning the party to power in the 2024 general elections.

The NDC made significant gains in the region, doubling its parliamentary seats from four to eight — the first time in the party’s history it has achieved such a feat in Ashanti.

The party also improved its presidential performance, with John Dramani Mahama securing over 43,000 more votes than he did in the 2020 elections. In contrast, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) recorded a reduction of more than 429,000 votes in 2024 compared to 2020.

Dubbed “Phase 2” of the tour of what is often referred to as the NPP’s “World Bank,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia is also expected to engage party leaders and grassroots supporters. The interactions will focus on assessing their views on the government’s performance so far, while also outlining the administration’s plans for the near future.

The tour will begin on Sunday, April 12, at Asawase, where he is scheduled to meet supporters at the Aboabo Astro Turf at 4:00 p.m.
