The Deputy Director of Operations of the United Party (UP), Afia Korankyewaa, has criticised former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta over his failure to return to Ghana to account for his stewardship, suggesting that his absence raises serious concerns.
Speaking on Accra-based UTV, she argued that his refusal to appear for accountability gives the impression that he may have something to hide.
According to her, if the former minister is genuinely unwell, there are capable medical facilities in Ghana that can provide adequate care, making his continued stay abroad questionable.
“Ken Ofori-Atta’s refusal to return and account to Ghanaians suggests he has something to hide,” she added.
She stressed that public officials must be willing to account for their actions, especially when concerns have been raised about their tenure.
Afia Korankyewaa also called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure that Ofori-Atta returns to Ghana, noting that their silence on the matter does little to support accountability.
She added that failing to address such issues could reinforce public perceptions about governance and accountability, particularly if the party seeks to return to power in the future.
