Comptroller-General of Immigration (CGI) Samuel Basintale Amadu has unveiled a comprehensive package of welfare and infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving the working conditions of officers within the Ghana Immigration Service.

During a two-day working visit to several Immigration Commands in the Greater Accra region, the CGI engaged with officers to assess operational efficiency and better understand the challenges they face. He assured officers of the government’s commitment to addressing their concerns.

The welfare initiatives include the provision of welfare buses for transportation, strategic partnerships to finance motorbikes and tricycles for interested officers, accessible low-interest loan schemes, and the establishment of a mutual health insurance plan.

In addition, collaborations with companies will provide building materials for officers’ housing needs, repayable through convenient installment plans.

On infrastructure, the CGI highlighted ongoing construction of modern offices in seven regions, complemented by an efficient shift system to optimize the use of existing facilities pending completion.

He emphasized the importance of punctuality, accountability, and prudent use of official resources, warning that any misuse would attract appropriate sanctions.
Regarding promotions, he explained that revisions to the GIS establishment structure are underway to ensure future advancements align with available vacancies.
The CGI commended officers for their dedication and urged them to sustain their commitment to building a resilient Immigration Service that advances excellence in migration management and border security.
CGI Amadu visited the Adenta and Legon Sectors as well as the Abokobi District Command. He was accompanied by Greater Accra Regional Commander Deputy Commissioner Beatrice Opkoti, Chief Staff Officer Assistant Commissioner Gordon Saah, and Head of Protocol Deputy Superintendent Barbara Sam.
