John Dramani Mahama has returned to Ghana after an official trip to France and is expected to chair an emergency cabinet meeting today to address the recent surge in fuel prices.

The meeting will focus on urgent measures to reduce the impact of rising fuel costs on households and businesses, with the increases largely linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Government is reportedly considering immediate interventions to ease the pressure on the economy.

While in France, President Mahama co-chaired the 2026 One Health Summit with Emmanuel Macron. The gathering brought together global leaders to discuss coordinated responses to challenges related to health, the environment, and sustainability.

On the sidelines of the summit, the two leaders held bilateral talks focused on deepening cooperation between Ghana and France, covering areas such as economic collaboration, energy, and broader development partnerships.

The emergency cabinet meeting is expected to produce practical steps to stabilise fuel prices and cushion the Ghanaian economy as government responds to the evolving global situation.
