The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a viral video that alarmed the public after he allegedly posed as a bandit and issued threatening remarks online.

The suspect, Evans Puplampu, was apprehended on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ashaiman Community 22 following sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance by the police.

The video, which circulated widely on TikTok, showed Puplampu with his face covered, accompanied by a caption suggesting an attack targeting churches in Ghana. The post quickly drew attention and triggered fear among viewers.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he was the individual in the footage, explaining that he had imitated a trending social media style “for fun” and had no intention to cause panic or harm.

Investigators have retrieved a Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile phone believed to have been used to record and share the video. The device has been seized as evidence.

Police confirmed that Puplampu remains in custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. He is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming days.

Authorities have cautioned the public against creating or sharing content that could incite fear or disrupt public peace, emphasizing that such actions carry legal consequences.
