The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) has officially commenced processes to review Ghana’s basic education curriculum, covering Kindergarten to Primary Six.
The curriculum, introduced in the 2019/2020 academic year, is due for revision in line with policy requirements to align it with current national priorities and evolving educational needs.
As part of the process, a joint meeting involving the Curriculum Steering Committee and a Technical Working Group was held on March 12, 2026, at the Ministry of Education in Accra.

The meeting received a report from a NaCCA research team that conducted an evaluation of the existing curriculum.
The engagement forms part of a broader series of consultations aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the current framework and identifying areas for improvement.
According to NaCCA, the review seeks to make the curriculum more responsive to the changing educational landscape, while ensuring it reflects Ghanaian culture, values, and context.
It will also focus on strengthening competencies that support quality teaching and learning outcomes across basic schools.
The process is expected to involve continued stakeholder engagement as authorities work towards developing a more relevant and inclusive curriculum for Ghana’s basic education system.
