The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is scheduled to meet on April 7, 2026, with the appointment of a new Black Stars head coach expected to dominate discussions.
The move follows the dismissal of the 50-year-old tactician after Ghana suffered back-to-back defeats against Austria and Germany in last month’s international friendlies.
Those results have heightened scrutiny over the team’s direction, especially with the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching.
With less than three months to the tournament in North America, pressure is mounting on the GFA to establish stable technical leadership for the national team.
Concerns over recent performances under Otto Addo have further intensified calls for decisive action.
According to Citi Sports, three candidates have been shortlisted for the vacant role, although their identities remain undisclosed.
The Executive Committee is expected to deliberate on the options and select a preferred candidate during today’s meeting.
Once a decision is reached, the GFA will enter consultations with the government before making an official announcement, in line with its established protocol for major national team appointments.
The football governing body has indicated its preference for a coach with a proven track record at either club or international level.
Preparations for the Black Stars are set to resume in May, with a friendly against Mexico on the horizon, followed by another preparatory match against Wales on June 2.
Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the World Cup, where it has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
