The Administrative Manager of Hohoe United, Yussif Uthman, has stated that the players side with the club’s decision to boycott the remaining fixtures of the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
The Hohoe-based side announced its decision to withdraw from the campaign last week, citing systematic unfairness.
They since failed to honour their Matchday 28 game against Eleven Wonders at the Swedru Stadium last Friday.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Yussif Uthman expressed that the majority of players are in support of the club’s decision to abstain from playing the remaining games.
“The players are in support of the club’s decision because of the bias of the system they have been subjected to week in and out,” he said.
He further highlighted the impact such unfair decisions have on players, noting that it undermines their preparation and affect their readiness for matches.
“Yes, they like to play football, but what’s the point in playing football in a system that simply can not be fair? You prep all week, you invest your resources, you go for games, only for a few people to come and decide the outcome of the game. It breaks the hearts or spines of players who work hard all week long to prepare for games, give their all, only for one or two decisions to impact the results of the game,” he added.
At the time of withdrawal, Hohow United sit in the relegation zone, having collected 30 points from 27 matches, with seven games remaining.
As Hohoe United’s future in the Ghana Premier League remains uncertain, all attention turns to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) regarding the club’s decision to withdraw.
