Residents of Anfoega Wademaxe, a farming community in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region, have called on the government, non-governmental organisations, and philanthropic bodies to support the construction of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre to enhance teaching and learning in the area.

In an interview with Adom News, Kofi Bayitse, Chairman of the Anfoega Wademaxe Development Association and a retired Human Resource manager of GTP, said the community has begun mobilising resources and rallying support to strengthen school development and improve the quality of education for children.

He emphasised that access to a modern ICT laboratory is no longer a luxury but a necessity, especially for students in rural communities who risk being left behind in a rapidly evolving digital world.

According to him, an ICT centre would equip learners with essential computer skills, expand research and learning opportunities, and prepare them to compete on equal footing with peers across the country and beyond.

Bayitse therefore appealed to benevolent organisations, corporate institutions, and individuals to partner with the community to make the project a reality.

He added that with timely support, Wademaxe can build a facility that will serve as a foundation for digital literacy, improved academic performance, and future employment opportunities for the youth.

Beyond infrastructure, Bayitse also urged young people in the community to stay away from drug abuse and other harmful activities that could derail their future. He encouraged them to take their education seriously, citing his own life journey as an example of what determination and commitment to learning can achieve.

The Anfoega Wademaxe community believes that with collective effort and strategic support, an ICT centre will not only transform education locally but also create wider opportunities for children and young people in the area.
