Kenneth Owusu Boateng, Chairman of the Kwahuman Association of the Netherlands, has called on the government to resume the long-delayed Kwahu Ridge Water Supply Project.

The project is part of the broader 3Ks Water Supply Initiative covering Kumawu, Konongo, and Kwahu. Despite reports in 2016 suggesting the project was nearly complete, it has faced multiple setbacks.

Many water systems in Kwahu are outdated or in urgent need of repair, with failing pipes and machinery causing inconsistent supply for residents. The initiative aims to rehabilitate existing infrastructure, including a new intake on Volta Lake, to improve water supply to areas such as Kwahu Ridge, Mpraeso, and Nkwatia.

Mr. Boateng emphasised that completing the project is crucial for providing reliable access to clean water for thousands of residents.

Speaking to residents in Kwahu Mpraeso, community members raised concerns about persistent challenges in accessing safe and reliable water, appealing to the government and the Community Water and Sanitation Agency to prioritise potable water provision to improve health outcomes and living conditions.

Some members of the Kwahuman Association also expressed concern that party politics has negatively affected development in Kwahu, calling for increased efforts to rehabilitate roads and enhance infrastructure in the area.
