Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, has urged caution over the possible reappointment of Kwesi Appiah as head coach of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The GFA is in search of a new manager following the dismissal of Otto Addo, who was relieved of his duties after consecutive friendly defeats to Austria and Germany in March.

Appiah, who has previously led the Black Stars on two separate occasions, has been mentioned alongside 2014 World Cup-winning coach Joachim Low and South African tactician Pitso Mosimane as potential candidates for the role.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe suggested that the way Appiah was treated in the past should prevent any return, adding that the coach himself might consider declining such an offer.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese Football Association (SFA) are open to allowing Kwesi Appiah to lead the Black Stars to the World Cup as earlier revealed by Adomonline.com last week.

The GFA is expected to announce a new head coach in the coming days as the Black Stars prepare to face Mexico in May, followed by friendlies against Wales.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L for the World Cup, where they will meet Panama, England, and Croatia.
