The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals in connection with a suspected narcotics operation at Offinso in the Ashanti North Region.

The suspects, Albert Nkrumah, 21; Francis Owusu, 25; Gyimah Emmanuel, 24; and Theophilus Amoabeng, were picked up on March 26, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation by police.

According to a police statement, two of the suspects, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu, were later identified through an identification parade by a patrol team as part of a group that fled the scene of an earlier incident on March 25.

As part of ongoing investigations, police secured a court order from the Offinso Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Christiana O. Bruce Ashirifie.

The order directs key state institutions, the National Identification Authority, the Electoral Commission, and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, to provide relevant data to assist with the probe.

On March 30, Albert Nkrumah and Francis Owusu were put before the court and subsequently remanded into police custody. They are expected to reappear on April 27, 2026.

Police say investigations are still underway, with additional suspects already identified as part of efforts to break up the network behind the operation.

The substances retrieved during the exercise are to be forwarded to the Forensic Laboratory at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters in Accra for further analysis.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug-related offences and maintaining public safety. It has also called on the public to provide credible information to support ongoing investigations.
