Upper West Fire Station Recognised For Community Safety Efforts

The Upper West Fire Station has been recognised for its contributions to community safety and climate resilience.

The award was presented at the REACH (Resilience Against Climate Change) Programme closure event, organised by GIZ, where the station was acknowledged for promoting fire safety and supporting climate adaptation efforts within the municipality.

The recognition highlights the station’s proactive role in addressing climate-related risks.

Representatives of the station, DO III Iddrisu Imran and ADO I Abubakar Osman, received the honour on behalf of the team.

Speaking at the event, the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles P. Lwonga, commended the officers for their dedication and encouraged them to sustain efforts in extending fire safety education to more communities.

He noted that the recognition underscores the growing importance of integrating emergency response services into broader climate resilience strategies across the country.
