The Benkumhene of the Mim Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region, Nana Adututu Kwarteng, has criticised the council for failing to drive development in the town despite decades of revenue. He made the remarks during a press conference in Mim.

Nana Kwarteng explained that over the past 30 years, the council, under the leadership of Okrofrobour Dr. Yaw Adjei, has received substantial royalties from timber companies alongside internally generated funds. However, he claims these resources have not been used to advance the community’s development.

He also highlighted the lack of financial accountability, noting that for more than three decades, the council has not provided the community with any detailed reporting on the funds collected, raising concerns among residents and natives.

As a response, Nana Kwarteng and other concerned citizens are seeking to compel the traditional council to be transparent, demanding concrete evidence of the monies received and how they have been used to benefit Mim. He emphasised their determination to ensure proper accountability and responsible management of the community’s resources.
