The Paramount Chief of the Krachi Traditional Area, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, has proposed the creation of an Agricultural College in Kete-Krachi to support farming communities across the Oti, Savannah, and other northern regions.

According to the Krachiwura, “Such an institution would equip the youth with practical skills to improve productivity in their primary occupation, agriculture.”

He also called for renewed unity among traditional leaders and stakeholders to drive development in the area as he marked 25 years on the stool.

Speaking at his Silver Jubilee celebration in Kete-Krachi, the Krachiwura urged chiefs across the enclave to set aside political and geographical differences and work together as partners in development.

He stressed that “Collaboration among traditional authorities in areas such as Yeji, Atebubu, Dwan, Bassa, and Krachi could yield stronger results in addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.”

Highlighting infrastructural needs, he emphasised the importance of completing road networks in the municipality and improving access to potable water. Despite being surrounded by the Volta Lake, many communities still lack safe drinking water, prompting his call for a major water system to address the issue.

On economic development, Nana Mprah Besemuna III urged the government to prioritise irrigation projects along the Volta Lake and improve inland water transport to boost commercial activities in the area. He also welcomed ongoing efforts toward the construction of a bridge over the River Oti at Dambai, describing it as a long-awaited project that would significantly enhance regional connectivity.

Reflecting on his 25-year reign since his enstoolment in 2001, the Krachiwura expressed gratitude to his chiefs, elders, and people for their support, as well as to development partners and government officials who have contributed to the progress of the traditional area.

He commended the youth for their continued support but cautioned them against actions that could undermine development, urging them to remain committed to building a strong future for Krachi.

The anniversary celebration, held under the theme “Celebrating 25 Years of Traditional Leadership, Unity and Development in Krachi,” brought together high-profile dignitaries, including the Vice President of Ghana, traditional rulers, and government officials, marking a historic moment in the annals of Krachi.
