The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has inspected ongoing rehabilitation works on the Kunka Road, expressing satisfaction with the progress so far.
The inspection formed part of a site visit by the MCE, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), and heads of departments to assess the status of the project at Kunka Junction.
Speaking to Adom News during the visit, Faustilove Appiah Kannin said the road was among key projects earmarked for construction when the current administration assumed office. She revealed that the contractor has completed about 80 percent of the work, describing the progress as encouraging.
The MCE also acknowledged the support received from President John Dramani Mahama, as well as the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the Ashanti Regional Minister, in facilitating the project.
Project Engineer Robert Baffoe of Joshob Construction Limited confirmed that the remaining 20 percent of the work includes the installation of speed ramps, rumble strips, streetlights, zebra crossings, and road signs.
He added that the project is expected to be completed and handed over by the second week of April.
The Kunka Road project is expected to improve transportation within the municipality and enhance road safety for residents and motorists.
