The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Abdul Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has praised both former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and President John Dramani Mahama for their contributions to the ongoing push for slavery reparations.

Speaking in Parliament, Mr. Mahama described the Accra Proclamation on Reparations as a landmark achievement, stressing that the issue goes beyond partisan politics and should unite all Ghanaians.

He criticised individuals who downplayed the former president’s efforts, urging recognition of his role in advancing the reparations agenda and its potential impact on Ghana and the wider African continent.

According to the Walewale MP, addressing historical injustices such as slavery is essential for healing and progress, and should not be seen as a distraction from current economic challenges like unemployment.

He further commended President Mahama for continuing the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of Africa’s commitment to achieving reparatory justice and confronting the lasting effects of slavery and colonialism.
