The High Court in Accra has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the planned “Celebration of Life” event for late highlife icon Daddy Lumba. The event was scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Independence Square and other locations.
The order follows an application filed by the Head of Family of the Ekuona Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta, Abusuapanin Victor Kofi Owusu, popularly known as Abusuapanin Tupac.
A statement issued by Baba Jamal & Associates explained that the court order specifically bars Nana Yaw Akosa (aka Papa Shee), Akosua Serwaa Schindler (Fosuh), Ernestina Fosuh (Brempoma), Wofa Yaw Poku, and their agents from organising, promoting, or hosting the event.
The statement emphasised that the injunction effectively halts any attempt to proceed with the programme in any form.
“By upholding this injunction, the Court totally prohibits any attempt to proceed with the celebration of life or any such event,” the statement noted.
It further warned that organisers, venue providers, and participants risk legal consequences if they disregard the directive.
“Organisers, venue providers, and active participants are hereby cautioned that defying this order constitutes contempt of court, which is punishable by law,” it added.
The legal representatives also signalled their readiness to pursue further action against any breaches.
“We shall not hesitate to initiate committal proceedings against any individual who seeks to undermine the authority of the Court.”
The statement concluded with a call for calm and sensitivity.
“We call for peace and respect for the family and the children at this moment.”
