In a public announcement dated March 27, 2026, the Ministry said the closure is necessary to facilitate scheduled upgrades aimed at improving safety and ensuring the long-term functionality of the facility.

According to the Ministry, the decision forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain the AICC as a standard venue for major national and international events.

The statement added that a reopening date will be communicated to the public in due course.
