The Binjub clan in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region is demanding justice following the killing of two of its members in Abunyanya.
In a press statement issued on March 15, 2026, the clan said the victims, Uninkpel Balatob Gabuja and Tananje Tayon, were allegedly murdered in the early hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026, during an attack by members of a rival clan.
According to the statement, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when the assailants reportedly stormed the victims’ homes and carried out the deadly attack. The clan attributes the violence to a dispute over a borehole project on their land a day earlier.

They explained that tensions escalated on January 31, prompting the intervention of police and military personnel to restore calm. However, the clan claims that after security forces left the area, signs of a possible reprisal attack emerged.
Despite attempts to call for renewed security presence that night, the clan says the response was delayed. By the following morning, two people had been killed, six houses burnt, two motorbikes destroyed, and several shops vandalised.
The Council of Elders and youth of the Binjub clan have condemned the killings, describing the victims as innocent and expressing concern over the lack of arrests nearly two months after the incident.

They say a petition has been submitted to the Ghana Police Service in the region, but no significant action has been taken.
The clan is now appealing to the Ministry of the Interior Ghana and the Inspector-General of Police to intervene and ensure swift investigations and prosecution of those responsible.
Spokesperson for the clan, Foster Kwasi Danna, expressed confidence in Ghana’s justice system but stressed the need for fairness and accountability.

The clan says it remains hopeful that justice will be served to bring closure to the bereaved families and restore peace in the community.
