Passengers travelling across the Afram Plains have been left stranded following the breakdown of a ferry serving the area.
The incident has disrupted movement between communities in the Afram Plains South District, with traders, commuters, and residents forced to wait for hours. Some have resorted to using engine boats without life jackets as an alternative means of crossing.

The situation comes at a critical time as residents prepare to receive President John Dramani Mahama, who is expected in the area tomorrow to inaugurate Phase One of a Farmers Service Centre at Kwame Oppong Nkwanta.
Some stranded passengers expressed frustration over the breakdown, calling on authorities to urgently repair the ferry or provide alternative transport to ease the situation.
Local residents say the ferry remains a vital link for economic and social activities in the area, and its frequent breakdowns continue to affect livelihoods.

Authorities are yet to officially comment on the cause of the breakdown, but efforts are expected to be made to restore operations before the President’s visit.
One of the boat operators, speaking to Adom News, explained the circumstances that led to the breakdown.
