The National Teaching Council (NTC) has revised the start date for the 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) due to a statutory public holiday.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Council announced that the examination, originally scheduled for Monday, March 23, will now begin a day later, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
The NTC explained that the adjustment is intended to accommodate the public holiday on the earlier date. Candidates and other stakeholders have been urged to take note of the new timeline and plan accordingly.
Despite the change in the commencement date, all other arrangements for the examination remain unchanged.
The revised schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, March 24, 2026 — General Professional Knowledge
- Wednesday, March 25, 2026 — Grade-Level Specialism Pedagogy
- Thursday, March 26, 2026 — Multiple Subjects Content / Single Subjects Specialism
The Council expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the rescheduling and appealed for candidates’ cooperation and understanding.
The Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination remains a compulsory requirement for individuals seeking entry into the teaching profession, ensuring that professional standards within the sector are maintained.
Candidates are advised to monitor official NTC communication channels, including the Council’s website, for further updates ahead of the examination.
