More than a dozen vehicles were destroyed after a fire swept through an auto mechanic shop at Magazine New Road, Zone 11, near Akwasi Oppong, on March 13, 2026.
The blaze, which broke out in the busy mechanical enclave, reduced several vehicles to wreckage, including seven sprinter buses, two Nissan Urvan vehicles, two Toyota Land Cruisers, and a Benz bus. Four engine blocks and a container warehouse were also affected.
Firefighters from the Manhyia Fire Station and Komfo Anokye Fire Station responded swiftly, containing the blaze before it could spread to adjoining workshops and structures. Their timely intervention prevented what could have escalated into a major disaster in the area, known for its concentration of mechanical shops and vehicle repairs.
Despite the extensive property damage, no casualties were reported.
