The Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Akyem Central Municipality, Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, has cautioned residents affected by a recent fire outbreak at Konongo not to rebuild at the same location, citing safety concerns.

His warning follows a fire incident on Saturday evening that ravaged structures along the railway line, destroying several wooden buildings and a church belonging to the New Life Pentecostal Ministry.

Speaking to Adom News during a visit to the scene, the MCE advised victims to consider relocating to safer areas rather than reconstructing in what he described as a high-risk zone.

He emphasised that rebuilding at the same site could expose residents to future disasters, particularly due to the nature and location of the affected structures.

The fire has left several residents displaced, with many counting their losses as they begin the process of recovery.

One of the victims, who spoke to Adom News, appealed to the Assembly to provide temporary accommodation to support those affected as they rebuild their lives.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire, while efforts are expected to assess the extent of the damage and provide the necessary support to victims.
