Ghanaian actor Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr. Beautiful, says some stories are too meaningful to be forgotten and must be retold for new audiences.

Speaking on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz ahead of the staging of the upcoming play I Told You So, the actor expressed excitement about being part of a production that reconnects modern audiences with a classic Ghanaian narrative.

“Some stories are too powerful to stay in the past. They must be revived so the next generation can learn from them,” he said.

Mr. Beautiful, who plays the role of “Osuo Abrobor” in the stage adaptation, explained that the production preserves the central themes of the original story while presenting them in a fresh, engaging way.

“We are not just performing a play. We are bringing back a timeless message about life, relationships, and growth,” he noted.

The original I Told You So film, released in 1970, remains a memorable piece of Ghana’s cinematic history. However, Mr. Beautiful observed that many people today never had the opportunity to watch it.

“Back in 1970, not everyone had access to the movie. This stage version is giving people another chance to experience that powerful story,” he said.

According to him, the cast and crew have spent the past three months in rehearsals to ensure a production that meets high artistic standards.

“We have rehearsed for three solid months because we want audiences to feel every emotion, every lesson, and every moment,” he added.

Encouraging families, couples, and friends to attend, the actor described the play as both entertaining and therapeutic.

“Life is already stressful. This is an opportunity to relax, laugh, reflect, and enjoy quality time with loved ones,” he urged.

The stage play is scheduled to run from Thursday, March 5, through Sunday, March 8, 2026, promising a blend of nostalgia, humour, and meaningful storytelling for theatre lovers.

The production is being mounted by Fiifi Coleman Productions in collaboration with the National Theatre to reconnect audiences with Ghanaian cultural values while promoting local theatre and storytelling.
