German-born midfielder Ilyas Ansah has confirmed he will not be joining Ghana for the 2026 World Cup this summer.

The Union Berlin player had been linked with a potential call-up by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). However, Ansah, who has previously represented Germany at youth level, says he has yet to decide on his senior international allegiance.

“After the U21 European Championship, I will look ahead to next year and make a decision,” the 21-year-old told Tribuna.com.

“As things stand, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana,” he added.

Ansah has been a key contributor for Union Berlin this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

Ghana head coach Otto Addo is expected to announce his final squad for the tournament on June 1.
