The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an impact-based weather alert, warning that localised rainstorms and thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of the country on Monday, February 24, 2026.
According to the agency, some of the rainstorms have already developed, producing thunderstorms, varying intensities of rainfall, and gusty winds in affected areas.
The advisory, issued at 1530UTC and valid from 1550UTC, indicates that the Volta and Eastern Regions, as well as parts of the Greater Accra Region, are likely to experience the conditions between 1530UTC and 1900UTC.
GMet’s nowcasting risk assessment places the affected areas within the “Be Aware” to “Take Action” categories in the immediate hours, with a moderate risk level (E) anticipated within the first two hours. The risk is expected to ease gradually as the period progresses.
The agency further noted that the stormy conditions could persist into the evening, potentially extending to additional coastal areas, locations slightly north of the coast, and parts of the middle sector of the country.
