Management and students of Saint Joseph’s College of Education in Bechem, Ahafo Region, have appealed to stakeholders for support to improve the school’s infrastructure and enhance teaching and learning.
Speaking to Adom News at the 2025/26 Bachelor of Education Matriculation Ceremony for 347 new students, Principal Dr. Isaac Godfred Antwi highlighted the urgent need for modern classrooms. He explained that rooms originally designed to accommodate 45 students now hold 120, making teaching and learning uncomfortable.
Dr. Antwi also pointed out the need for appropriately sized chairs and desks, noting that the current furniture is too small and negatively affects students’ studies. While management is working to address these challenges, he stressed that external support—from the government, companies, traditional authorities, philanthropists, and others—is essential.

Meanwhile, Tano South Municipal Chief Executive Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong assured the school management, parents, and students of the government’s commitment to addressing the challenges. He noted that several projects, including the administration block, girls’ dormitory, lecturers’ bungalows, and school vehicles, remain uncompleted or abandoned.
He added that, together with Member of Parliament Charles Asiedu, he has written to GETFund urging the deployment of contractors to complete all abandoned projects, many of which started in 2016.
