The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has disbursed over GH¢392 million to healthcare providers nationwide for services rendered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) between December 2025 and January 2026.
According to the Authority, the payments demonstrate its commitment to timely reimbursement, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare delivery to NHIS members across the country.
A statement from the NHIA’s Finance Directorate revealed that a total of GH¢392,031,851.26 was paid to health facilities after claims submitted in the previous year were thoroughly vetted and approved.
A breakdown shows GH¢301,658,338.13 was disbursed in December 2025, with an additional GH¢90,373,513.13 paid in January 2026, bringing the total to nearly GH¢400 million over the two months.
Public and private health facilities accounted for approximately 80.55 per cent of the total claims, while mission health facilities received the remaining 19.45 per cent. In nominal terms, public facilities received GH¢157,164,301.62, private facilities GH¢158,630,317.29, and mission facilities GH¢76,237,232.35.
The NHIA emphasised that the disbursements reflect its resolve to promptly settle verified claims, enabling healthcare providers to continue delivering quality and uninterrupted services to NHIS members nationwide.
