Ghanaian musician Yaw Darling has extended an olive branch to Patapaa, stating that he holds no ill feelings toward the “One Corner” hitmaker and would gladly collaborate with him if the opportunity arises.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Yaw Darling clarified that a previous comment widely perceived as disrespectful was never intended to undermine Patapaa.

In that earlier interview, he had declined to be likened to an artiste like Patapaa, saying he would rather be compared to the likes of Kuami Eugene.

“I am a singer; Patapaa is not a singer, and we all know that. I meant I’d like to be likened to Kuami Eugene, who is one of the greatest singers in Ghana, and I’d be happy to be compared to a singer and not an artiste doing another genre,” he explained.

Making a U-turn on Hitz FM, Yaw Darling described his earlier comment as a “slip of the tongue.”

“We all make mistakes in this showbiz game sometimes; slip of tongue. The last time, I didn’t mean to disrespect him. After all, we are from the same region,” he said.

Yaw Darling stressed that he has long admired Patapaa’s craft and impact on the music scene. He noted that his creative process often involves drawing inspiration from different musicians and sampling elements from songs that resonate with him, and Patapaa’s style is no exception.

“I respect him because I’ve danced to his music. I’ve listened to him. So there’s no way I could disrespect Patapaa. If I see that there’s an element in a Patapaa song that I could use, I will sample it,” he said.

Beyond clearing the air, the 2025 TGMA Unsung Artiste expressed genuine interest in working with Patapaa in the future.

“If I get the chance, I will do a song with him because Patapaa too has a huge audience. He has the energy audience. I’m interested,” he stated.
