The Nkawkaw Central Market is set to be demolished after the Easter festivities to make way for the construction of a modern market facility.
At a stakeholders’ engagement with traders, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West Municipal Assembly, Tamimu Halidu, assured market women and traders that the reconstruction project would be completed within eight months.
He further pledged that shops and stalls would be reallocated to the original occupants upon completion of the project.
To ensure a smooth start to construction, the District Assembly has outlined temporary relocation arrangements for traders to alternative markets, including Adom Market, Nsuta Market, Akuajoo Market, and the Railway area.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Nkawkaw, the Nkawkaw Sanaahene, Nana Onwona Asante, appealed to traders, particularly market women, to cooperate with the assembly and allow the demolition to proceed after Easter, noting that the project will help beautify the municipality and improve trading conditions.
