The lawyer for the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has raised concerns after his client was moved to an unknown location by officers of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah said Mr. Nkansah was taken away in a convoy of three pickup vehicles after NIB officers searched his residence and later escorted him back to their office.

According to the lawyer, the officers subsequently left the NIB premises with his client without disclosing his destination, leaving the legal team unaware of his whereabouts.

“After the search, they returned to the NIB office. They told us they are taking him to another place. Now, in a convoy of three pickups, they have left the NIB office. Questions as to where they are taking him, nobody has answered us. He is in the company of heavily armed NIB officers. Right now, as the lawyer of Kofi Ofosu, I don’t know where my client is,” he stated.

Earlier on Tuesday, NIB officers carried out a search at Mr. Nkansah’s residence as part of investigations into claims that government-sponsored overseas scholarships were being sold to applicants.

Mr. Nkansah had previously been invited by the NIB to assist with investigations after President John Dramani Mahama directed the bureau to probe the allegations.
