Luis Diaz scored a hat-trick and Harry Kane knocked in two penalties as Bayern Munich thrashed 10-man Hoffenheim to re-establish a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
England forward Kane gave Bayern the perfect start, converting the first of two spot kicks won by Diaz, with Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma sent off for his foul on the Colombia winger.
Third-placed Hoffenheim levelled courtesy of Andrej Kramaric before Bayern took complete control, with Kane registering his 38th goal in all competitions before laying on a third for Diaz as half-time approached.
The former Liverpool man tapped in a Michael Olise pass to extend Bayern’s lead further and rounded off the scoring in the final minute.
The reigning German champions had temporarily seen their advantage at the top of the table reduced to three points by Borussia Dortmund, who won at Wolfsburg on Saturday.
