Voting is currently underway for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency, with a total of 1,012 delegates expected to cast their ballots.

Security is tight at the polling stations, where aspirants and their supporters are actively campaigning and distributing flyers to sway delegates.

The primary comes ahead of a by-election triggered by the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, Naser Toure, leaving the seat vacant.

Given the NDC’s historic dominance in the constituency, the candidate who wins today’s primary is widely seen as the frontrunner to represent Ayawaso East in Parliament.
