Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has admitted that several factors have contributed to the team’s inconsistent form in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors had hoped to close the gap on league leaders Medeama SC following their recent loss to Nations FC. However, Kotoko suffered a shocking 3-1 defeat to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium over the weekend.

The setback leaves Kotoko in fifth place with 35 points, eight behind Medeama at the top of the table.

“There are a lot of factors affecting us. We brought in good players, but some of them suffered injuries,” Zito told Asempa FM.

“This is football; sometimes you will get it right, and sometimes you will get it wrong. But I believe that sometimes, as a coach, you will have to keep learning and improving yourself regardless of the situation,” he added.

Despite their uneven league form, Zito and his squad are now focusing on the FA Cup Round of 16, where they will face Aduana FC this weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium.
