Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Ahafo Region have received startup kits for distribution to 276 beneficiaries under the government’s National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), aimed at tackling unemployment in the region.
The items were presented at the Regional Coordinating Council in Goaso and handed over by the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner. She commended the President for the initiative, describing unemployment as a major challenge that poses a threat to development in the area.

Madam Gardiner urged master craft persons to provide quality training to their apprentices to ensure the programme achieves its objectives. She also encouraged apprentices to be committed and attentive throughout the training period to enhance their skills and improve their livelihoods.
The Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the National Apprenticeship Programme, Sulemana Baba Amadu, together with the Ahafo Regional Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Nicholas Sowah, said the distributed items would be closely monitored to ensure they are used for their intended purpose.
The kits include 175 hand sewing machines, 35 knitting machines, 35 industrial sewing machines, 10 hair dryers, and other equipment, benefiting 46 master craft persons and 230 apprentices.
Both officials cautioned beneficiaries to comply with programme guidelines, noting that undisclosed monitoring strategies have been put in place to guarantee accountability.
