Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has donated 10 laptop computers and 10 desktop computers to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to support and strengthen the operations of the state broadcaster.

The donation was made on Tuesday, January 3, and formally received by the Director of GBC’s Television Department, Madam Naa Akushika Acquaye, on behalf of the corporation.
Sharing the initiative on his social media platforms, Mr Afenyo-Markin explained that the support was aimed at enhancing GBC’s capacity in content creation and digital delivery as the media landscape continues to evolve.

“This donation is intended to strengthen the operational capacity of GBC, enhance content production, and support the corporation’s critical mandate of informing and educating the Ghanaian public in the digital age,” he stated.

He stressed that public broadcasting plays a vital role in Ghana’s democratic architecture and must be adequately equipped to meet modern demands.
According to him, investing in digital tools will enable media organisations to respond effectively to changing audience behaviour and emerging technological trends.
Officials of GBC welcomed the gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial to the corporation’s work.
They noted that the computers would improve production efficiency across the Radio, Television and Digital Departments of the broadcaster and expressed appreciation to the Minority Leader, adding that the equipment would contribute to improved service delivery to the Ghanaian public.
