The Asunafo North Municipal Assembly in the Ahafo Region has distributed 10,000 birds to selected beneficiaries under the government’s Nkoko Nkitinkiti initiative aimed at improving livelihoods.

The distribution exercise took place in Mim, where the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Joseph Akparibo, told Adom News that 200 people are benefiting in the pilot phase of the programme, with each receiving 50 birds.

According to Mr. Akparibo, the initiative seeks to economically empower residents, and beneficiaries must strictly follow the guidance of agricultural officers to ensure the project’s success.

He urged recipients to take full ownership of the programme and provide proper care for the birds to maximise the expected benefits.

The Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Awudu Razak, who is also a poultry farmer and supervised the preparation of the birds ahead of distribution, advised beneficiaries to feed the birds regularly and provide clean drinking water to support healthy growth.

He further encouraged them to maintain clean environments for the birds, stressing that proper hygiene is key to achieving good yields and early benefits from the initiative.
