A newly appointed contractor for the long-abandoned Akatsi North shopping market mall has assured residents that the project will be completed within six months, pledging quality delivery and strict adherence to timelines.

Mr. James Kofi Luther Agumenu, Managing Director of Lutako Company Limited, gave the assurance after officially taking over the 40-storey-room market mall project, which had stalled for several years, raising concerns among traders and residents who had expected it to boost local commerce.

The assurance followed a site visit led by the Akatsi North District Chief Executive, Bless Katamani, and the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, accompanied by officials from the District Assembly and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The delegation also paid a courtesy call on Togbui Nyamekor Glakpe V, Paramount Chief of the Ave Dakpa Traditional Area, as well as market traders and community members, to formally introduce the new contractor after work resumed on the project.

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job, Mr. Agumenu said all technical assessments had been completed and the necessary resources mobilised to ensure the project is delivered on schedule.

He stressed that quality would not be compromised, adding that modern construction standards and durable materials would be used throughout the execution of the work.

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, said the market mall, which was initiated under a previous NDC administration, is expected to provide a modern and well-structured trading space for local traders.

He noted that once completed, the facility would help boost economic activity and create employment opportunities in the Akatsi North District.

For his part, the District Chief Executive, Bless Katamani, reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to closely supervising the project to ensure transparency, quality workmanship, and timely completion.

He assured residents that lessons had been learnt from past delays and that measures had been put in place to prevent a recurrence.
