Key figures in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary have arrived at the national headquarters in Accra ahead of the official declaration of the results of the contest.
Among those at the premises are former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.
Their arrival follows the close of voting and the completion of collation by the party’s Electoral Committee, as executives, Members of Parliament and party supporters also converge at the headquarters for the final announcement.
Dr Bawumia emerged as the frontrunner in the tightly contested race, but party officials say the declaration will formally confirm the outcome after nationwide results are validated.
Security has been reinforced around the headquarters as final arrangements are made for the announcement, with officers deployed to manage crowds and ensure order.
Party sources say the process reflects broad participation by delegates across the country and demonstrates the NPP’s commitment to internal democracy.
The presidential primaries, which attracted thousands of delegates nationwide, have been described by party leadership as largely peaceful and well organised.
After the declaration, the aspirants are expected to join party executives on stage, with the eventual winner addressing supporters and calling for unity as the NPP begins preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
