The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has extended goodwill to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of its presidential primaries, urging all stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
In a statement dated Friday, January 30, 2026, and signed by the CPP’s Deputy General Secretary, Gbagbadrigba Agbatesi II, the party said competitive but peaceful internal elections are essential to strengthening Ghana’s multiparty democracy and deepening political tolerance.
The CPP encouraged NPP aspirants, delegates, executives and supporters to conduct themselves with maturity, respect and a strong commitment to peace before, during and after the primaries.
It cautioned that while political competition is natural, it must not degenerate into violence, intimidation or divisiveness that could threaten national cohesion.
The party stressed that the outcome of the primaries should be accepted in good faith, with any grievances addressed through established internal party mechanisms.
The statement reaffirmed the CPP’s belief that peaceful elections, both internal and national, are fundamental to Ghana’s development and democratic stability.
