Dr. Bryan Acheampong has appealed for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections, warning that unresolved divisions could derail their chances of returning to power.

Addressing party delegates on Thursday, the Abetifi MP said the scars from the 2024 election defeat remain visible, pointing to voter apathy, internal rivalry, and attacks among party members on social media as issues that must be confronted honestly.

According to him, the outcome of the NPP’s last internal contest should serve as more than just statistics. He described the 61 per cent to 37 per cent split as a signal that cohesion within the party had weakened and required urgent attention.

Acheampong further noted that more than two million traditional NPP supporters failed to turn out in 2024, while the party’s parliamentary strength dropped sharply from 137 seats to 87. He argued that these losses were not accidental but the price paid for disunity.

“Two camps, one family, yet still apart. Can we march into 2028 like this? The answer is no,” he told delegates, stressing that elections are won not only with strategy but with collective purpose.

He said the task ahead is to rebuild trust across all factions of the party, restore discipline, and reconnect with supporters who drifted away. “Our wounds from 2023 and 2024 must heal. If we stand as one family again, victory in 2028 will not be a dream but a destination,” Acheampong said.

Positioning himself as a unifying figure, he pledged to resource party structures, strengthen communication, and ensure that every member, from polling station executives to national officers, feels part of one common mission.
