Several traders at the Anlo Market in Kumasi are counting their losses after a devastating fire gutted a large section of the market on Monday night.
The blaze destroyed nearly half of the market, leaving many traders in distress as their shops and goods were reduced to ashes.
Affected traders in an interview with Adom News appealed to the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident to establish its cause and bring those responsible to book.

“We have worked in this market for over 24 years, and nothing like this has ever happened before. We are deeply worried and need a full investigation into this painful incident,” a trader lamented.
One of the victims, Nana Kwame, who owned four shops that were completely burnt, said he lost items worth about GH¢50,000 to the fire.

“I am a shoemaker, and all my leather, glue, and customers’ shoes were destroyed. My life has gone back to square one,” he said with grief.
He added that life would become extremely difficult for them if the government and other philanthropists do not come to their aid.

The Assembly Member for the Afful Nkwanta Electoral Area, Daniel Otuo Acheampong, told Adom News this was the second fire incident in his area within two weeks, describing the situation as alarming.
