The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Agbesi Benjamin from his position as Oda Constituency Communication Officer following allegations of misconduct.
The decision comes after an audio recording surfaced in which Mr Benjamin is said to have discouraged a newly converted member from joining the party.
In the recording, he reportedly made comments that contradict the party’s outreach efforts, even as the REC maintains that the NDC has become “the most attractive political party in Africa in recent times.”

At a virtual meeting held on January 21, 2026, the REC resolved to suspend Mr Benjamin with immediate effect and refer the matter to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for detailed investigations and determination.
He has also been instructed to surrender all party property in his possession to the Constituency Secretary.
According to the committee, Mr Benjamin will be invited to appear before the disciplinary body for a hearing to enable it to compile its findings and recommendations for submission to the REC.
The suspension letter was signed by the Eastern Regional Secretary, Jamal Konneh, and copied to the party’s General Secretary, the REC, the Constituency Chairman, and the Chairman of the Regional Disciplinary Committee.
