Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has formally requested additional support staff as the team prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars will be making their fifth appearance at the World Cup and have been drawn in Group I alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
Having already strengthened the technical team with the additions of Winfried Schäfer, Desmond Ofei and Gregory De Grauwe, Addo has now asked the GFA to further reinforce the coaching and support structure ahead of the global showpiece.
“I am aware that Otto Addo has requested to beef up the Black Stars technical team,” Asante Twum told Accra-based Sporty FM.
“This is the biggest football tournament, and he believes we must go there with the best,” he added.
Ghana’s Group I campaign will begin on June 17 against Panama in Toronto, followed by a clash with England in Boston, before concluding with a match against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
After early exits at the 2014 Brazil and 2022 Qatar World Cups, the Black Stars are determined to make a stronger impact at the expanded 2026 tournament.
As part of their preparations, Ghana will also face Germany in an international friendly scheduled for March 30 in Stuttgart.
