The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has carried out a major operation in Budumburam and surrounding communities in the Central Region, resulting in multiple arrests and the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs.

The intelligence-led raid, conducted in the early hours of the morning, targeted suspected drug dens and distribution points as part of NACOC’s intensified nationwide crackdown on drug trafficking and abuse.

Among those arrested was 32-year-old Rebecca Afia Naa Dei Kotei, popularly known as “Mother,” described by authorities as a key figure in the local drug trade who had previously evaded arrest.

NACOC officials say the suspect is believed to play a central role in the distribution network operating within Budumburam and its environs, allegedly coordinating both retail and supply chains.

During the operation, officers seized quantities of suspected cannabis, tramadol, and other controlled substances, along with items believed to be linked to drug peddling activities.

NACOC has indicated that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be processed for prosecution in accordance with the law.

The Commission also said further operations are expected as it steps up efforts to combat drug-related crime in the region.
