The Kpeshie Divisional Police Command in Nungua in the Greater Accra Region has appealed for help to identify an adult male, believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, who was found dead under a bridge in the Teshie-Nungua Estates last Saturday.
The Police have urged members of the public whose relatives have been missing over the past two weeks to contact them to assist with the identification of the body, which has been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary in Osu.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Divisional Commander of Kpeshie, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Odonkor Baah, said the police suspect the crime might have been committed outside the community, with the body later dumped at the location.
He said the police received information last Saturday about the discovery of a lifeless body beneath a bridge near a defunct restaurant known as Busy Mouth.
“Upon receiving the report, officers rushed to the scene to convey the body, but we could not obtain any information from residents about how or when the incident occurred,” ACP Baah said.
“It appears the man was killed elsewhere and the body dumped in this community.
As of now, we have no information about the circumstances surrounding the death or the identity of the deceased,” he added.
He said close-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area had been retrieved by the Crime Office and forwarded to the Police Headquarters for analysis as investigations continued.
“At the moment, the CCTV footage is the key tool we are relying on to trace the perpetrators and also to identify the relatives of the deceased,” he said.
