Some shoppers and traders in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region have expressed frustration over poor sales of farm produce, saying the situation has dampened their Christmas celebrations.

Traders told Adom News that items such as gari, beans, maize, and yam remain largely unsold, leaving them financially strained and unable to adequately prepare for the festive season or provide for their families.

A visit by Adom News to shops and market centres in the municipality revealed low commercial activity, with clothing, shoes, and other goods left largely unattended.

Despite efforts to attract buyers by reducing prices, traders say sales remain very low, worsening their hardship. Some business owners attributed the poor patronage to ongoing conflicts in parts of the municipality, which have disrupted market activities and discouraged buyers.

They appealed to the government to take urgent steps to restore peace in the area and implement measures to improve the livelihoods of farmers and traders.
